Centro Dotacional de Alta Eficiencia Energética, Madarcos (Madrid)

El proyecto nace con la premisa de conjugar tres requisitos de muy diversa naturaleza:

Integración en el entorno: el objetivo consistía en resolver un diseño arquitectónico armonizado con el contexto rural, caracterizado por una arquitectura vernácula propia de un asentamiento rural que durante siglos ha configurado una escena urbana protagonizada por una construcción que se solventaba con materiales autóctonos y tecnologías básicas. La clave estaba en descubrir los principios que definen la identidad del lugar y al dictado de estos proyectar una arquitectura genuina.

Bajo consumo energético: Madarcos, es un municipio de tan solo 40 habitantes cuyo ayuntamiento dispone de escasos recursos económicos, y en consecuencia la problemática fundamental que se le presentaba a la corporación local radicaba en la dificultad de soportar los gastos energéticos inherentes al uso del edificio. Con esta premisa el encargo del proyecto conllevaba la inexorable necesidad de proyectar un edificio que minimizara el coste de funcionamiento, solo así la administración podía afrontar la gestión de este equipamiento.

Programa de usos complejo: Otra ambición de partida que había que resolver en este proyecto consistía en diseñar una arquitectura versátil, que permitiera acoger diversos usos (sala polivalente, centro público de acceso a internet, biblioteca, sala de usos múltiples, etc.) funciones que acontecerían en régimen de ocupación discontinua, y sumando a estas dificultades también concurrían las complicaciones propias de la pública concurrencia.

La principal novedad del proyecto consistió en la incorporación de un sistema innovador de paneles radiantes conformados con vidrios activos rellenos en su cámara de agua.

La propia traza del edificio conforma una grieta longitudinal que lo atraviesa de Este a Oeste, y que completa virtualmente el recorrido orbital inter-plazas uniendo los principales hitos urbanos y sus espacios asociados.

Se ha concebido una Arquitectura orientada a su integración con el contexto, por ello el edificio se proyecta valorando fundamentalmente el espacio interior como contenedor de funciones, y concentrando en éste la idea generadora que da fuerza a nuestra propuesta.

Bajo una luz cenital en el interior del edificio el usuario siente el pasar del día, como reflejo de la variable trayectoria solar, una forma de medir los tiempos en la vida de Madarcos, que antaño se materializaba “en el reloj de sol de la vez”, mecanismo que gobernaba a lo largo del día el reparto de los caudales de riego para los regantes.

El resultado es un edificio público que simultáneamente expresa integración y respeto al medio urbano, al contexto geográfico y a la historia de sus gentes.

El Green Building Council de España otorgó al edificio la certificación ambiental de obra construida: “ 2 HOJAS VERDE ”.

The project was born with the premise of combining three very different requirements:

Integration into the surroundings: the aim was to resolve an architectural design harmonised with the rural context, characterised by a vernacular architecture typical of a rural settlement that for centuries has configured an urban scene starring a construction that was solved with autochthonous materials and basic technologies. The key was to discover the principles that define the identity of the place and, based on them, to design a genuine architecture.

Low energy consumption: Madarcos is a municipality of only 40 inhabitants whose town council has scarce economic resources, and consequently the fundamental problem that the local corporation faced was the difficulty of bearing the energy costs inherent in the use of the building. With this premise, the commissioning of the project entailed the inexorable need to design a building that would minimise the running costs, as this was the only way for the administration to be able to manage this facility.

Complex programme of uses: Another initial ambition that had to be resolved in this project consisted of designing a versatile architecture that would allow for a variety of uses (multi-purpose hall, public internet access centre, library, multi-purpose hall, etc.) functions that would take place in a regime of discontinuous occupation, and in addition to these difficulties there were also the complications inherent to public concurrence.

The main novelty of the project consisted in the incorporation of an innovative system of radiant panels made of active glass filled in its water chamber.

The very layout of the building forms a longitudinal crack that crosses it from east to west and virtually completes the orbital inter-plaza route, linking the main urban landmarks and their associated spaces.

Architecture has been conceived with a view to its integration with the context, which is why the building is designed fundamentally valuing the interior space as a container of functions, and concentrating in it the generating idea that gives strength to our proposal.

Under a zenithal light inside the building, the user feels the passing of the day, as a reflection of the variable solar trajectory, a way of measuring time in the life of Madarcos, which in the past was materialised “in the sundial of the time”, a mechanism that governed throughout the day the distribution of the irrigation flows for the irrigators.

The result is a public building that simultaneously expresses integration and respect for the urban environment, the geographical context and the history of its people.

The Green Building Council of Spain awarded the building the “2 HOJAS VERDE” environmental certification.
